- If it is the first time you are connecting your GPS device to your Mac you will have to wait until all of the maps fully cache in Basecamp, this can take 20 minutes the very first time, you will see under the heading Garmin device your maps starting to load
If you still have an issue please Give Basecamp Software Full Disk Access on your Mac as follows:
- Once you have installed the software, before opening it, please goto the top left menu’s on your Mac and select the Apple Icon, then select System Settings, then Select Privacy & Security – then select Full Disk Access
- If Garmin BaseCamp is not showing in the list of Full Disk Access Applications, select the + icon at the bottom of the list (You will be prompted to enter your Mac password) then select Applications and select Basecamp software to add to the list, make sure it is turned on with the blue tab to the right.
Also if youhave installed Garmin Express Software on your computer please make sure the auto start is disabled and that Garmin Express software is not running in the background when using Garmin basecamp:
Garmin Express Software , disable the Always keep running & automatically open settings.
For Garmin Basecamp to see your connected GPS Device and maps, if you have installed Garmin Express Software that is used for performing firmware & map updates to your GPS Device it needs to be fully closed down, please make sure you have disabled the Automatic running & open Settings.
- From your applications open up Garmin Express Software, then once Garmin Express is opened goto the Garmin Express Menu bar along the top of your Mac and Select Settings.
- In General Settings make sure the Always keep Garmin Express running & automatically open boxes are un-ticked and then close Garmin Express down.
- Now restart your Mac
