There are a few instances in which it is necessary to perform a full reset on a Montana 700 series, including the following:
- Not receiving a satellite signal
- Restoring the factory default settings
- Not functioning properly
The information and steps below will walk you through backing up your data and resetting.
Before Resetting
Performing a full reset can cause user data loss. User data is waypoints, routes, tracks, activities and geocaches.
It is recommended to back up important data with BaseCamp before resetting.
Note: The Montana 700i and 750i back up data to your Garmin Explore Website account via the Garmin Explore App. You can still back up data with BaseCamp though.
Performing a Full Reset
- Power off the Montana
- Press and hold Power until the LED becomes red, then release
- Double-tap Power to start the reset
- The screen will indicate it is resetting and display the progress, then shut off
- Power the Montana back on normally
- Select your language
- The Montana 700i and 750i will display the option to Activate or Skip, select Skip. You will then need to re-pair and sync with the Explore app
You can now set up the Montana as per our Recommended Settings guide which can be found in the On Line Resource, Module 1 Unit 6
During the Master Reset you will lose the 'Hike NP' profile. The On Line Resource for the Oregon 700, Module 2 Unit 3 shows you how to do that.
