There are a few instances in which it is necessary to perform a full reset on a GPSMAP 276Cx series, including the following:

  • Not receiving a satellite signal
  • Restoring the factory default settings
  • Not functioning properly

The information and steps below will walk you through backing up your data and resetting.


Before Resetting

Performing a full reset can cause user data loss. User data is waypoints, routes, tracks, activities and geocaches.

It is recommended to back up important data with BaseCamp before resetting. For steps, see Related.

If removing data is desired to eliminate corrupt data or free up space, see Related.


Performing a Reset

  1. Ensure the device is powered off
  2. Press and hold both Page and Enter simultaneously
  3. Power on the device while continuing to press both buttons
  4. Release the Power button when Garmin appears on the screen
  5. Release the other buttons once the Do you really want to erase all user data? or This will remove all saved user data message appears
  6. Arrow to Erase or Yes
  7. Press Enter

The device is now reset. You will want to take the device outside in a clear view of the sky for a minimum of 20 minutes to refresh satellite data.
