The Android operating system provides many tools for managing notifications and power savings. At times, these settings may interfere with the ability for ZOLEO users to receive new message notifications. If the ZOLEO app does not provide a new message notification until the app is open, use the steps below to resolve the issue. 

Note: The instructions provided have been tested on Android version 10. Older versions of Android will have a similar feature with a slightly different layout.


Solution 1: Adjust ZOLEO notifications

1. Open the Android device's Settings menu

2. Tap on Apps

3. Tap the search icon (magnifying glass) and search for ZOLEO

4. Tap on Notifications and then enable the following:

  • Show notifications
  • Other
  • New Messages
  • ZOLEO Service
  • App icon badges

Retest messaging. If the notifications are still not working, use the steps below.


Solution 2: Disable battery optimization

1. Open the Android device's Settings menu

2. Tap on Apps

3. Tap the search icon (magnifying glass) and search for ZOLEO, tap on ZOLEO when it appears.

4. Tap on Battery

5. Tap on Optimize Battery Usage

6. Tap on Apps not optimized, then tap All

7. Scroll all the way down to ZOLEO and then tap it to disable battery optimization

8. Retest messaging again. Notifications should now be working.
