The Connected Predictive Ephemeris (CPE) files allow GPS devices to predict where satellites will be in the sky, which reduces GPS acquisition time.
Garmin has advised us that there is an issue with the current CPE file that gets updated on the GPSMap66sr unit when paired with Garmin Connect / Explore App or updated with Garmin Express on a computer.
With the current bug in the file you may find with Multi-GNSS satellites turned on your unit is initially not locking onto Satellites, while we await the software update release from Garmin a really quick temporary fix that will allow a full GNSS Multi Band Satellite lock is as follows:
With a view of the sky after turning your unit on – press your menu button twice to go to the main menu – select System – select Satellite – select Satellite system – switch to GPS only & stay on the screen– you will see the green satellite bars top left of your screen starting to lock-on – move down to Multi-Band and turn back on – all satellites should now be locking on.
Once we receive a notification about the software update, we will let everyone know in our newsletter, you can sign up for that here - https://mailchi.mp/gpstraining/toptechandteamnews
If you could report the problem to Garmin (0808 238 0000) that would be appreciated, the more people that report it the quicker the fix will be.
