If your eTrex 10, 20 or 30 will not acquire satellites, you may need to perform an AutoLocate. It's possible the device may have acquired some corrupt satellite data, preventing it from functioning properly. An AutoLocate will clear existing satellite data and force the device to acquire new data.
To perform an AutoLocate on your eTrex 10, 20 or 30:
1. Power on your device
2. Select Satellite on the Main Menu
3. Press Menu
4. Select AutoLocate Position*
Following the steps above, place the device somewhere with a clear view of the sky for 15-20 minutes. This will ensure your device has adequate time to acquire satellite data.
We also recommend from Setup - System, thatyou set Satelllites to use both GPS + Glonass and also if you have the option for WAAS / EGNOSS turn this on, these setting will potentailly improve accuracy and help wti locking onto satellites in more challenging enviroments.
If you continue to encounter issues or would like to reset additional data, see the article How do I perform a Master Reset on my eTrex 10, 20 or 30?
*If the device has already acquired a satellite signal, the AutoLocate Position option will not appear. Turning off GPS and turning it back on may allow time for the AutoLocate Position to reappear.
